My wedding dress was the first one a tried on. I had originally booked in an appointment at a Sydney designer to have my dress made for me. I wanted something traditional with a fresh spin. However, the day before I was meant to go in, the designer called to say she was no longer making dresses. I was initially disappointed as I was very excited to have a dress made for me. My (ever optimistic) mum suggested that we head into the city to Abbey Bridal to check out some dresses and have some fun. So I called up and made an appointment for the time I was meant to go to the designer. I went into Abbey Bridal a little stiff and apprehensive, I was hurt. However, being greeted by the smiles that met me as I walked through the double doors of Abbey Bridal snapped me back into shape. I spoke to my consultant about what style I wanted and how I wanted a dress that was youthful.
My mum was looking through the racks of dresses and came across one that the consultant explained to be a new design that was a one off and that wasn’t becoming a Maggie Sottero design. When I walked out of the dressing room the reactions on my mum and sister’s face said it all. This was my traditional, yet fresh dress. I walked out of Abbey Bridal with my dress in my hand and a smile from ear to ear. Kindness never goes out of fashion and Abbey Bridal delivered that on a silver platter.
I have always loved pink. I don’t think I leave the house without a splash of pink on. For the day I had looked forward to since I was a little girl I decided to wear pink, sparkly stilettos under my dress. It was a special touch that made my day even more perfect. Since we had our reception in a barn, Hamish ordered me a pair of pink cowgirl boots to wear when my feet got sore. Isn’t he so sweet!!
