Kristin and Cory
Gorgeous Autumn leaves seem a little far away in this week’s heat, but a girl can dream and dream she will, with such a beautiful backdrop to today’s beautiful wedding celebration!
Bride Kristin kicks it all off with their story. “We have been friends for many years – I can’t even remember when we first met! It is safe to say that it took a little while for our relationship to blossom! There wasn’t any particular special story to our relationship, except that it would suffice to say that perseverance in this case paid off (on Cory’s part)!”
Thank you to Milena of I Love Wednesdays who has shared the most beautiful, golden photographs with us today.
The day kicked off with handmade invitations, Kristin recalling “The invites were a collaborative DIY effort, a very patient friend helped to turn our idea into a reality and an express postage stamp from Etsy arrived just in time! It required a massive team effort to get all the details right and post them out. They were a lot of work but they set the tone of the wedding perfectly.” Kristin chose a gown from Lisa Gowing with pink shoes from Witchery.
There was a first look. Corey tells, “We had decided earlier that we would have what’s called a ‘first look’ before the wedding. Which essentially means that you get to see each other before the wedding and the photographer is there to capture the moment. We were both so nervous but it was an amazing and beautiful moment to be together before we committed ourselves to each other in marriage. And we were so glad afterwards because we both felt so much more at ease and were better able to enjoy the ceremony and afterwards.”
Of their photographer, Kristin remarks, “Our photographer was amazing! She was everything we had hoped for in a photographer; creative, relatable, down-to-earth, and very, very talented. We really appreciated her readiness to listen to our thoughts and from the first meeting we felt completely comfortable to be ourselves. ” Corey adds”Her artistic and slightly alternative style of photography really suited the style and atmosphere we were trying to create at our wedding. We love all our photos!”
The bridesmaids wore a gown from Etsy designer CoralieBeatrix called the Avalon Peach convertible dress.
Montrose Berry Farm, Sutton Forest was chosen as the venue for the ceremony and reception. Kristin telling “We used the same venue for the wedding and reception, Montrose Berry Farm in Sutton Forest. When we first saw Montrose we were taken in by the beautiful scenery and decided it was worth the drive from Sydney to get there! We were married in their converted barn and our reception flowed out onto the grounds. The grounds there were amazing, especially with all the reds, yellows and oranges of autumn. The owners of Montrose Berry farm were lovely and very helpful in making our day work.”
For her walk down the aisle, Kristin chose, “Amazing Grace – As Christians this song has such value to us as we reflected on the grace that our God has given us, and also in understanding that we need to show each other the same grace that God has shown us. Walking out – Brooke Fraser, ‘Something in the water’. This was a fun favourite of ours as we looked forward to our wedding. We really wanted our wedding day to be a joyful and relaxed day with our friends and family – this song captured that mood so perfectly!”
“There were so many special details that worked together to make the day as wonderful as it was. We set out to have a wedding that reflected us as a couple. A really key part of our plan was for the wedding to flow straight into the reception/celebration afterwards. Having a ‘First look’ before the ceremony meant that we could do this. It was a really lovely way to get rid of the nerves too! We wanted the day to be relaxed and full of love and good food. I heard rumours that the wheel of French Double Brie that was served after the speeches was a delicious detail! The live music played during our ceremony was a really special part of the day. Our talented friends and family created such a beautiful atmosphere.”
Cory recalls “Kristin’s soon to be sister in law (Annie of Francis Floristry), did an amazing job with our floral decorations for the ceremony and reception. Our family and friends helped transform the barn between the wedding and formal part of the reception.”
Kristin remembers” We didn’t end up having a first dance. We just didn’t think it fit in with the flow of the day and we didn’t want to stress about dance lessons and getting it right on the day!”
Congratulations Kristin and Cory! Thank you for sharing your wedding day with us! Thank you to Milena of I Love Wednesdays for sharing today’s images!
I love it down South
