Delara and Brian
Ah, nothing better than a beautiful Bali destination wedding right? Today’s is a beautiful celebration- the bride herself describes it as vintage with a tropical twist. I describe it as “Where I’d rather be”! Of their decision to marry in Bali, Delara tells, “We wanted a destination wedding so that all our family friends could spend time together, so often at weddings you don’t get to spend quality time with your guests, this way the wedding wasn’t just one day it was an entire week of celebrating relaxing and having fun with our nearest and dearest. We fell in love with the idea of a cliff top wedding over looking the ocean. Hence we picked Villa Latitude.”
But we can’t kick off a wedding story without how it all began, so for that, it’s over to Delara. “We still recall the exact moment we met. It was Wednesday the 19th of December 2007, and we both happened to be at Carnegies, in Perth. We were instantly attracted to each other and spent the night chatting away. Unfortunately I had to leave before we had the chance to exchange numbers. But just two days later, we amazingly ran into each other for a second time at Tiger Lils. Unfortunately, we again managed to go our separate ways, and with no mutual friends, nor any point of contact, we were again left with no way of contacting one another. However…The following week, we met for a third time by pure coincidence, and this time, Brian finally asked for my number. We arranged to meet the following Tuesday for our first ‘official’ date, but just days before our first Official date we ran into each other again for the fourth time at Little Creatures Brewery. Our first official date was at the Breakwater at Hillarys, however instead of meeting at the breakwater as planned, as we stepped out of our cars we realised that we had arrived at exactly the same time and parked our respective cars right next to each other. Needless to say, the date was perfect and we have been together ever since. It really felt like fate had brought us together.”
Christine Lim and Ruby Yeo captured today’s destination wedding and all of the dreamy, beautiful moments that went along with it- not to mention the amazing coastal backdrop!
Delara wore a gown from Brides By Design.
Delara chose ‘A thousand years’ by Christina Perri for her walk down the aisle.
The wedding day was planned and styled by Bali Exclusive Wedding who also looked after the flowers, cake and catering for the wedding.
Dru Soltys married the couple. Delara remarking “Our celebrant Dru was amazing, he flew to Bali last minute and conducted the most amazing ceremony it captured everything about Brian and I.”
Of their photographers, Delara says, “I have to give a very special mention to our photographs Christine Lim and Ruby Yeo. They did such a truly amazing job. They captured the day so perfectly and were so lovely to have around. I just could not recommend them highly enough. Everyone that has seen our photographs comments on what an amazing job they did.”
“My maid of honour helped me put together an inspiration board for the wedding which made choosing flowers, table decorations etc so much easier – the theme was vintage elegance with a tropical twist. So the colours where based on a sunset from the ivory and cream in the wedding dress, lace parasols, table cloths to burnt sienna for the bridesmaid dresses, and flowers for the bridal table with lots of soft lighting from the ivory paper lanterns, and candles.”
The reception started off with plenty of tradition, Delara remembering, “I am Persian so during the reception we had traditional Persian dancing, we also brought different coloured belly dancing style sashes that guests wore for dancing. It was hilarious to watch some of the guys try to belly dance.”
Delara tells, “Our first dance was to Moby’s “Love Should” it is one of our favourite songs and we always knew that we wanted to have it as our first dance song.”
Congratulations Delara and Brian! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you also to Christine Lim and Ruby Yeo for sharing today’s photographs with us!
Hi do you have any idea where the bridesmaids dresses are from? Carla Zampatti?
Thanks
Hi Vic,
Unfortunately the bride didn’t let me know! They do look like Carla Zampatti though!
Hi there! I am getting married at Villa Latitude in July and looking at this lovely wedding makes me even more excited and sure about my choice of venue. I am just starting to source vendors and was wondering what you would suggest about photographers – ?fly them in from Australia vs local??
Hi Priya,
I think this completely depends on your own personal preference. I’ve seen just as many weddings with Bali photographers as with photographers flown in. Obviously the latter can be much more expensive. Is there a photographer you love the work of? Have you tried contacting them to see what their rate to get to Bali might be?
Very pretty! The color looks stunning on her!
