The spectacular venue of Gabbinbar Homestead in Toowoomba was the location for The Vintage and Handmade Bride’s second boutique wedding fair – Love Sweet Love on Sunday 13th January. The day was filled with wonderful inspiration for those planning a vintage or DIY wedding with over 20 specialty vendors showcasing their creative products and services. In addition to exhibitor spaces, the fair also featured styled areas as well as valuable wedding workshops offering wonderful advice from wedding professionals.
Mel & Kim from Brisbane based The Vintage and Handmade Bride chose Toowoomba as the destination for their second wedding fair as they felt it was an area that was lacking in truly inspirational and creative events and they wanted to bring together the best wedding professionals in not only Toowoomba but as far as Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast in the one special day.
Once the decision was made to “hit the road” and head to Toowoomba, it was only natural for Mel & Kim to contact the team at the stunning Gabbinbar Homestead. Isaac and his team of amazing staff were more than excited to be the host venue of the first boutique wedding event of its kind in Toowoomba and as you can see from the images, the rooms and grounds were a perfect backdrop for the day.
Despite scorching temperatures in the peak of summer, couples travelled from all over Toowoomba and the Darling Downs as well as from Brisbane and the coast. Brides and Grooms had the opportunity to gain valuable advice and insight from the wedding workshops held throughout the day, be inspired by the gorgeous roving fashions and meet with so many lovely vendors who all share a passion for creating unique and personal weddings.
So what is next for the creative minds of Mel & Kim? Well in the midst of planning Love Sweet Love, they were also busy putting together the first issue of their brand new wedding magazine, The Vintage and Handmade Bride, which is aimed specifically at those planning a vintage / handmade / unique wedding. The magazine launches in March and will be available in selected newsagents and specialty stores Australia wide as well as available directly through their website.

Ms Gingham says: Stunning images of what looks like a brilliant event! One to catch next time it’s in town!
Melanie from Silver Sixpence says: “I really love couples who include a lot of personal touches in their day to make it truly special and meaningful to them, such as choosing to get married on their grandparent’s wedding anniversary, using pieces of lace in the bride’s gown from a family heirloom gown, all the little hand made pieces that couples create themselves or taking the time to write quirky personalised vows.”
Just gorgeous, Melanie. Well done to you and the team on a beautiful event.
