Happy Monday Dotties! Hasn’t the year started revving up? I can barely remember Christmas it feels so darn busy!
We’re kicking off the week as we always do with a special spotlight on our fantastic Ms Polka Dot’s Directory members!
We are literally adding new vednors to our directory every single week and we’re covering all the bases! From Entertainment, Bridal Gowns, Stationery & Paper Goods, Venues and of course Photography! We love our directory members so take a peek at Ms Polka Dot’s Directory and see who you find!
Live music can make such a difference at a wedding. From singing you down the aisle, to changing it up as guests change their mood at the reception! So welcome to the stage, our vendor of the week, Melbourne based Mr Boutique! This live band is not only flexible with their music styles (they play everything from jazz to pop to indie!) but also with their formation which allows from a duo to an eight piece big band. They have string quartets and DJs they work with too so you can get the full music experience, or just stick with the band.
We asked Tom from Mr Boutique five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
This would have to be the Tequila Sazerac. I met this beauty at the Tipsy Parson in Chelsea, New York, when I was living there last year. A twist on the prohibition-era whiskey sazerac, but instead with gold tequila, absinthe and a hint of orange peel. I would recommend Manhattan for a taste of this drink alone!
Your favourite weekend getaway?
The Croajingolong National Park, East Gippsland: where pristine beach meets dense banksia bush.
Favourite restaurant?
A little restaurant called Thai Nee Cafe. Wonderfully aromatic traditional Thai cooking.
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
Probably choosing something Middle-Eastern/Australian inspired at my local cafe, Brunswick Foodstore. Accompanied by a touch too much excellent coffee, as always.
Your favourite wedding story?
My close friend and his wife were recently married at his parents’ stunning country property, on cliffs overlooking a lake. I was asked to sing during the ceremony, so was standing beside the couple while they made their vows. During the vows, the celebrant asked for the rings. “Oh, whoops” said the groom, “Mum, can you go inside and grab the rings?” he called out. “I think they’re in the top drawer in the kitchen.” The crowd and bride-to-be laughed at his casual request, and the service continued without a hitch. The couples’ carefree and loving attitude set the tone for a beautifully relaxed, joyous occasion – with just a touch of humour to boot!
