Christmas in Australia is a special time. Instead of snow, we get beautiful lazy sunsets. Instead of hot chocolate we get cold champagne. Instead of bare branches, we get beautiful native blooms and instead of pudding we get pavlova (except who are we kidding, we’re quite happy to eat both!) This absolutely gorgeous Christmas inspired wedding shoot is just the ticket to pay homage to an Australian Christmas, and one to draw some inspiration from for your own very Australian celebration.
I have been dying to show off what an Australian Christmas is to me for so long and this talented team of Melbourne vendors delivered this beautiful shoot right to me last week and it seems the perfect way to spend Christmas Eve! It’s full of Australian Christmas magic!
Photographer Kim Selby of Red Telegram says “The Macedon Ranges in Victoria are so beautiful, I find inspiration all around, the seasons, the beautiful landscapes, the hint of eucalyptus in the air, the whisper of the wind in the local pine forest but most importantly I find it in the people of the area. I recently had an idea for a shoot, little Christmas bush fairies and my imagination ran away with me as it usually does, and I knew that I would need help.
So I enlisted Megan from Macedon Events, Arnie from Flowers in Vase, Shaz from Blackbird Catering, Kylie from Kylies Collections and Marnie from Epoch Co to assist in bringing my vision to life. These amazingly talented local women completely blew my mind. I am sure that they won’t mind me saying but what transpired that night was nothing short of magical and moved many of us to tears. It really was so special, hanging out in the Australian bush on a warm spring evening and seeing what these fabulous ladies are capable of was just awe inspiring. A special mention must also go to our beautiful fairies Nicola, Grace and Emily (and their parents), who put their trust in us, not really knowing what to expect (actually I don’t think any of us did!). They simply embodied the grace and beauty that I dreamt of in my little fairies.”
This shoot took me right back to my childhood. Absolutely stunning lighting in the photos, and I love the cake decorations. This is right out of a fairytale.
Ethereal WOW! PS I have that same wrapping paper :p
