Nicky & John
Today’s wedding has a different kind of twist – not only is this the version captured by the second shooter of the day, but it was also a nighttime celebration. The result? Beautiful, moody imagery that has a sense of raw beauty to it. Such a beautiful way to end off the day!
Bride Nicky tells of how she and John came to be. “We met at Silk Road after the races one year, for once the girl went over to the boy and bought him a drink! Something a little bit different to what normally happens.. one drink turned into many and the rest was history! ”
Briars Atlas shot the photographs today (he worked with Tamara Erbacher who was the main photographer at today’s wedding). I really love the mood of Oli’s captures- they’re fly on the wall with this intensity to them.
Nicky loved “Having my husband’s kids involved in the day and celebrating with us.”
Nicky wore a gown from Eternal Weddings while her bridesmaid wore a black dress from Swish Clothing.
Nicky and John had a different kind of timeline for the day. Nicky explains, “We had a different format then the standard wedding timeline, we got married at 7pm and decided to see each other before the ceremony and get photos with each other and have a drink to calm our nerves. It was lovely to have that time together before hand to spend time with my family and then go and get married and celebrate straight after instead of having to leave guests and go and get photos and come back. ”
Of their photographers, Nicky says, “On the day we had 2 fantastic photographer, Oli and Tamara. They had a very lovely nature to them and were so helpful and were willing to make anything to make our day as smooth as possible. They were in the background and watching the day unfold and capturing all the special moments for us. ”
Nicky and John held their wedding at The Beach Hotel, Albert Park.
Nicky walked down the aisle to “Glasglow Love theme by Craig Armstrong, which was the song from the movie Love Actually.”
One story from the day was a lucky one. “Yes! The one major story which is very funny now, and I do not know any other person that this has happened to but during the ceremony we had tealight candles all around the fireplace where we had the ceremony. During the ceremony I moved my dress around and it clipped a tealight candle! So I luckily didn’t go up in flames but I had a nice black burn mark on the side of my dress.. but now it makes a funny story!”
Nicky remarks “I purchased a lot of my items from Etsy, I purchased all our table centrepieces and went in the day before the wedding and set everything up. ”
For their first dance, Nicky remembers, “We danced to the classic first dance song Etta James – At Last. It was just nice to share a special moment with each other since most of the night is spent mingling with guests. But we laughed a lot as we didn’t practice our first dance as must as we should have! ”
Congratulations on your marriage Nicky and John! Thank you for sharing your wedding with us! Thank you also to Briars Atlas for sharing today’s photographs!

He submitted a wedding he shot as a 2nd shooter? Whoa. I’m sorry, but that’s so not on. As a primary shooter, I can tell you he crossed all types of borders. Burned bridges. Waved goodbye to other gigs. Just sayin’.
Hi “Ironic Alias”.
Oli actually had the permission of the primary photographer to submit this wedding. She is slowing down on shooting weddings herself and was more than happy for Oli to submit it and receive publicity.
Ms Polka Dot
Thanks so much for running this Ms Polka, and also for clarifying the above.
Tamara rocks, and apart from being a good and talented friend of mine was very gracious in allowing me to have my shots published :).
Wow, Great photos!
