Happy Monday Dotties! Did you have a lovely weekend? I can’t quite beleive it’s August, but here we are. Eight months into the year and approaching the warmer weather (which means more and more Dotties tying the knot!)
Before we get started into a jam packed week of inspiration, let’s take a peek at Ms Polka Dot’s Directory
Please take a moment and check out our awesome directory members. We have amazing Bridal Gown Designers, Gift Registries, Photographers, Favors & Decor Accessories & Cakes, just to name a few of the many suppliers who make up the pages of our wedding directory!
I love the stress relief of hiring a wedding planner. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again that I am the kind of person that would be worrying about the bouquets, worrying about the little things going to plan and if I don’t, my mother does. So I think the idea of handing over everything to someone who can solve problems, take responsibility and help everything go smoothly without anyone being any wiser, is a wise investment. Sydney based Couture Wedding Planning does just that (and more!) Director Fiona Dean-Dundas has developed four wedding planning packages to suit couples differing needs.
From the top level Haute Couture package which includes everything from sourcing quotes to the attending to the end of your wedding day, to the Couture Consultation package which helps you bring your plans together and gives you advice on how to have everything run smoothly, the team can be as involved as you choose in your wedding day!
We asked Fiona from Couture Wedding Planning five questions in five minutes –
What is your favourite after five drink?
Lychee Mojito – love how the sugar, lime and Lychee mix together for a refreshing drinky.
Your favourite weekend getaway?
In Australia we love to sneak off to Hunter Valley and taste all the beautiful wines and eat all the yummy food. For a slightly longer weekend we sneak over to Kuala Lumpar for some shopping at Pavillion and Stay at the Westin in KL.
Favourite restaurant?
Wow, I have so many – If we going high star I would choose either between Guillaume at Bennelong, Quay and Aria – all have amazing food. For something yummy, cheap and filling we always head off to Bazzar a Czech Restaurant in Crows Nest.
What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?
You will probably find us at Chaos in Neutral Bay on a Sunday Morning – Great coffee and their corn fritters are to die for.
Your favourite wedding story?
Again there is so many. One of my couples, Teresa and Leigh, that got married last year told me the story of how he proposed. Apparently he created this elaborate treasure hunt through Sydney and at the final destination revealed the ring. I love it when the grooms go to a lot of trouble to propose.
We went on to create an elaborate wedding for Teresa and Leigh at Sergeants Mess. We hired Sergeants Mess out for the entire day so we could drape all the walls and so we could create trees and other flower installations on the tables. Teresa and Leigh got married in St Mary Cathedral – we had letterpress ceremony booklets made with St Mary Cathedral Motif on them – so stunning. Teresa’s dress was by Steven Khalil and she had 6 Bridesmaids in these intense blue dresses that popped in all the photos. We wanted to bring a little bit of Leigh into the wedding. He is a big fan of Transformers so we got our tailor, Matthew Lawrence Bespoke to custom make a lining for Leigh with Transformers on it. Other great elements of Teresa and Leigh Wedding was their hand written calligraphy menus, the beautiful candy bar by candy bar company, and the fireworks for the cake cutting by Foti Fireworks. Here is link to their photos on my website.
