3. Jackson, Wyoming
Jackson, Wyoming is great for nature lovers. It’s the home of National Elk Refuge. During the winter, you can often see them wandering along the main highway. The many black diamonds at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort lure top skiers, as do luxe ski-in/ski-out lodges with heated pools and fireplaces. Enjoy the local microbrews after a day on the slopes, a sleigh ride, or a few hours on snow shoes.

Ms Gingham says: The thought of a day on the slopes, a massage and a hot meal finished off with a glass of port next to the roaring fire is my idea of absolute heaven! I think all these locations need to be added to my bucket list.
