Situated in Bellingen, New South Wales, Dervish Gallery occupies the entire top floor of the historic Hammond & Wheatley Emporium in Hyde Street. Filled with exotic furniture, accessories, jewelry and more, it’s a treasure chest of colourful decadence. All items are sourced directly from overseas, mostly from villages in developing countries where the sales enable the villagers to make an income, which adds even more appeal to this fabulous shop.

Fossicking through the thousands of items, you can find a myriad of eclectic pieces to decorate and style your wedding. Personally, I am loving the trend of hanging lanterns instead of chandeliers at your reception and Dervish Gallery has many different styles of glass and mosaic lanterns to make a statement at your wedding.

Imagine dressing a chill-out area at your reception with colourful Middle-Eastern pouf seating, exotic cushion covers and Arabian printed scarves. Who would have thought that a quick trip to Bellingen in New South Wales could take you on an exciting and exotic journey to the Middle East.

Once you’ve shopped up a storm and worked up an appetite you simply have to have lunch (or dinner) at their sister company, Mouza Restaurant. Mouza Restaurant sits inside the former Bank of NSW building, just 50 metres up the road from Dervish Gallery. The restaurant is also owned and operated by Avi Shaul who is a colourful and lively character around Bellingen.

Avi began his cooking career in a Kabbutz in Israel and his menu reflects his love of the Middle East. Your choices for meals range from a delicious Moroccan chicken salad, a fragrant Indian butter chicken or beautiful Bengal prawns with rice and garlic naan. But the one thing you simply have to order is the sensational Arabic Mezze… it’s magnificent!

Here’s a look at a just how stunning a Moroccan themed reception can look. Amini Concepts in Brisbane recently created this Night in Marrakech display which features gorgeous hanging lanterns, rich colours and  lavish textures.  Amini Concepts has everything you need to recreate the mystery and enchanting atmosphere of an authentic Moroccan night if you aren’t a diy kind of bride.

Ms Gingham says: It’s a very popular theme and you can go as authentic as you like or you can choose to just introduce some elements into your wedding. The colours of this theme are so rich and sumptious they look stunning!
