With your ‘wedmin’ folder perfected and steadily filling up with RSVPs, budgets and menu options galore, let’s move onto the fun stuff!
Are you a décor design diva? A lover of the dessert table? A scorner of the standard chair cover? Your wedding is the perfect opportunity for you to conjure up a day that truly reflects you both – classic, contemporary or eclectic, the list is endless!
When first planning the feel & possible theme of your wedding day, you may feel nervous and a little lost ~ so many colours, so many options, and only one very special day….eeekk! Fear not, following these steps will help you on the path to styling your perfect wedding day:
1. Add another section to that ‘Wedmin’ folder of yours: the Style File.
2. Purchase a few wedding magazines {and also some design ones too}, arm yourself with some scissors and cut out any images / articles that appeal to you ~ add them to the Style File. These do not have to be wedding related, simply something that stands out.
3. Gain worldwide inspiration from some of the fabulous wedding blogs across Australia, the UK and beyond. Be it a unique table plan idea, or a stunning colour scheme ~ get printing and adding to your burgeoning Style File.
4. Start following your favourite wedding bloggers & suppliers on Twitter and Facebook for a constant supply of creativity, unique ideas and general wedding loveliness.
5. Get hands on ~ add fabric samples, font designs and photos to your Style File: let your inner creativity loose.
6. Once you have been adding to your file for a while, open it up, lay it out and take a good look. It is very likely that there is a theme in there {lots of similar shades of colour… or maybe a near obsessive collection of mason jar images} ~ is it time to set your Wedding Style free?!
7. More of an internet kinda gal? A visit to Pinterest and Lover.ly are a must of wedding inspiration and images a plenty! Compile online ‘moodboards’ detailing your wedding day style, theme and so much more.
Have you decided on a colour scheme or style for your big day? How did you decide? We’d love to hear all about it!
Happy planning, Jenna x
Ms Gingham says: I just live for this stuff! So much so that I couldn’t resist putting together my own “style file” to illustrate Jenna’s excellent post!
