I was privileged enough to be accepted into the Magnum Workshop, Fremantle 2012 with Magnum photographer, Antoine D’Agata.
The week was fast-paced, intense and simply put, brilliant. I relished being part of a class environment again. There is alot to be said for working alongside like minded photographers, sharing your work and critiquing one another. I feel I have grown so, so much.
Antoine pushed us all with both his encouragement and honest criticism. I feel I know so much more about my ability as a photographer and lack there of. You would be foolish to think otherwise, as honing one’s craft is a lifelong journey. To say the least, I’ve walked away truly inspired.
At the conclusion of the workshop a public projection of our work was held in conjunction with FotoFreo. We had to edit our project down to ten images, which wasn’t an easy task. My project was on the marginalised people of Fremantle of which there were many.
