Neilsen and Tisha
The wedding was self-catered. Both our families are big! My mother is a chef and fussy and wouldn’t let us consider hiring someone else to do the catering. Nielsen’s mother is the cook of his family, and refused to be anywhere else but in the kitchen. With the help of some family members coerced into the kitchen including myself, we put on a feast that I’m still proud of to this day. We did cheat a little and used Golden Roast Catering to supply our spit-roast meat. It was delivered on time, hot, juicy and incredibly tasty. The wedding cake came from Madisons in Broadbeach. We chose a 2-tier cake, the bottom layer was chocolate mud cake with layers of chocolate cream running through and the top layer was a hummingbird cake made with pineapple and banana and had tiny vanilla cream layers through that. It was decorated in white with a quilted pattern and black studs. The cake maker (Nick) suggested a small bouquet of flowers to match the bridesmaids and they were amazing. The cake was a hit and there was plenty to go around!
My Aunt set the tables (from Bobs Hire including crockery, glassware, cutlery, tablecloths, everything!), decorated chairs, made up kids activity packs and carved meat! She was my dressmaker/wedding planner/project manager/port of call and we couldn’t thank her enough! My day was even more special because of her.
I felt so calm and serene that day and so thankful that this day was so personal and quite frankly, everything I had hoped it to be. I have these beautiful reminders in the form of my wedding albums from our photographer Amanda Quick. She was recommended through a mutual friend and she fit in so well with our theme. Our wedding photos are simple but beautiful and we thank her for capturing not only these pictures, but the feelings and atmosphere of the day as well. It really was a simple but beautiful affair.

Ms Gingham says: At the risk of sounding cliche… the simple things in life are often the best! It looks like this was the perfect day for Tisha and Nielsen and that’s the point! That your wedding day reflects who you both are.
Tisha says: “The day itself was magical. It was about our love, not only for ourselves but for our family and friends.”
Hi Tisha. Your wedding looked amazing. My partner and I are thinking of having our wedding at La Casa aswell.
How many people would you recommend to be the maximum to fit for dining etc.
How many tables would fit outside without being too much?
Did Bobs hire provide all the plates, glasses, chairs, tables?
Hi Alice!
We had 7 round tables that seated 10 people per table. You could fit more, but then it may start to get a bit crowded. I would say no more than 90 people, at the very maximum! I think the owners prefer for you to not have too many guests, they were quiet happy for 70, but only just.
Bobs Hire provided everything. Linen, crockery (plates, bowls, serving ware) glassware, cutlery and tables and chairs. They were efficient and easy to communicate with. No hassles, which is such a relief for stressed out brides!
Hope it all goes well! La Casa is amazing and was a beautiful back drop for our day.
Dear Alice, Do not book your wedding at La Casa. It is an illegal venue that Gold Coast Council and ex Councillor Ted Shepherd thought was shut down. If you book , how do you know you’ll get your money back if it is shut down again before your day? The operators know it is not a legal venue yet persist on taking bookings. There may also be local protestors on site on your day. It is the aim of all Tallai residents to again pull the plug on this illegal house party operation as soon as possible.
but susan it is so beautiful!!! i want my wedding there so so badly 🙁
may i ask how come it is illegal and what the problem is please Susan
