For me creating a beautiful bridal bouquet is not so much about the one flower but more so the floral combination – the texture, the rhythm and harmony of the bouquet. I like to consider all the principles and elements of design to create the perfect bridal bouquet. There is, actually, a lot more thought that goes into creating a beautiful bouquet than one realises!
Some important points to consider are:
– Bride’s gown.
– Personal style.
– Location/setting of wedding.
– Bridesmaid’s gown colour/style.
– Season/weather.

The season always has a huge impact on flower choices. If you have your heart set on a Peony Bouquet in the middle of Winter unfortunately the chances are you will be dissapointed! On the plus side however, you can always rest reassured that we can create something just as magical and gorgeous with another combination- we really are blessed to have the widest array of beautiful varieties in floral choices here in Australia.
Your Bridal bouquet is the second most photographed element of your wedding (after your dress), so it is important you do put some extra thought and detail into it!
When meeting with your florist it’s best to come prepared with a photo of your Bridal gown if you have one. It is also helpful to bring with you a sample of your Bridesmaid’s gown or a photo along with any inspiration boards or images of floral combinations that you like. You should feel confident and be able to trust in your florist to do the best job possible for your day! After all our every intention is create your bridal bouquets of your dreams that will no doubt blow you away on the day!
Ms Gingham says: You never know if it’s overkill to bring pictures of dresses and swatches of fabrics to these meetings but as Lina explains, it’s important to the overall styling of your wedding. A florist who is happy to sit down and really be a part of the design process with advice and creativity is the one you should definitely book.
