Amanda and Kallon

Western Australia always produces such amazing weddings – full of style and glamour but with the essence of what I love about Australian brides. Amanda and Kallon held their reception in a Fremantle art gallery and had such a stylish day to go along with it.

Amanda explains how she met her husband. “Kallon and I grew up living near each other in Coogee. We knew of each other through their teens, went to different high schools, but Kallon would always make himself noticed after school by sticking his head out the bus window. It wasn’t until a mutual friend introduced us officially at 19 years old that the sparks began to fly!!”

Photographs are by Erica Serena who captured the joy and atmosphere with a little bit of sparkle!

Amanda wore a lace gown from Zansis Couture with shoes from Top End. She accessorised with Kallis pearls. Amanda’s bridesmaids wore gowns by Mr K from Elda’s House of Fashion (Amanda’s mother’s shop) and wore jewels from Fletcher & Grace.

A bouquet of roses and succulents was styled by Jodee Devine.

Amanda and Kallon were married at Monument Hill. “Monument Hill was our first choice for ceremony venue. Fremantle is the place where we shared our first kiss, our first date and where we have shared many special memories. Fremantle is one of our favourite places in the world!!” Amanda and her brother tied ribbons to the last row of chairs and flower cones on the aisle seats to decorate the ceremony.

Amanda walked down the aisle to ‘You are the Best Thing’ by Ray La Montagne.

Amanda and Kallon asked Amanda’s brother Gino to act as their celebrant at the wedding. “We were incredibly lucky that our legal celebrant was easy-going and loved the idea. It was so personal and an honour having Gino perform this important function on our day. Gino became our ‘wedding planner extraordinaire!’”

Amanda says “My two sisters and Kallon’s best friend and one of his brothers formed our bridal party, along with our nieces and nephews. We had all of our brothers and sisters and their partners sitting on the bridal party, as they are ‘our favourite people in the world’.”

Amanda and Kallon held their reception at Moore & Moore cafe, Fremantle. “For our reception, we wanted something different, something that resembled us as a couple – easy-going, fun and creative. When we saw Moore & Moore Cafe in the Scoop Entertainment magazine and found out they did functions…we had to go and see it. We fell in love with the place and the idea of having our wedding there as soon as we saw it and met with Manager Simon Naber. The food, the staff and the atmosphere was amazing. We were a bit nervous with how some of our guests might have felt about the reception, because it wasn’t the ‘traditional’ wedding venue, but we were blown away by the feedback we received and everyone loved it and couldn’t stop telling us how it was one of the best weddings they’ve been to. This made us deliriously happy as one of the most important things about the night for us was ensuring everyone had a great time and enjoyed the food and atmosphere! We have the staff at Moore & Moore to thank for that.”

Gino Premici, Amanda’s brother, created the stationery. Amanda says ” Gino made our invitations, ceremony cards, menus, place cards, props and table setting board. They were simply delightful and set the theme for our day!”

Family friend Sandra Gilmore created the three layer red velvet cake which was served with Baci chocolates. An extra special touch was added to the reception by Kallon.  “Kallon made the awesome photo booth that had a lot of attention throughout the evening. The photobooth contained photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days. It was great to have photos of some our deceased grandparents on display during the wedding. The presence was sorely missed at our wedding.”

The first dance was a hit. “We had initially planned to choreograph a dance to Pulp Fictions ‘You Never Can Tell’…we chickened out on this a few days before the wedding and went with another favourite song, Al Green’s ‘Let’s Stay Together’. We played ‘You Never Can Tell’ as our second song and invited everyone to the dance floor….it went off!! And was perfect!!”

Congratulations Amanda and Kallon! Thank you for sharing your wedding with us today! Thank you also to Erica Serena for today’s photographs!
