Emma and Mike
We’re back in Western Australia with this fun engagement shoot of Emma and Mike! There is a polka dot dress, chuck taylors and even an appearance from the couple’s littlest addition- William!
As you know, I am big fan of a couple’s personal story- so here’s the story of Emma and Mike as told by Emma! “We met in the UK (where I’m from) nearly ten years ago, when Mike was just 18 and I was a relatively old lady of 22! We met about three weeks before he was due to come back to Perth, so after he left most of our dates during the first year of our relationship were four-hour phone conversations. Of course, by the time we were together in person, we knew everything there was to know about each other! If falling hard for each other in three weeks counts as ‘love at first sight’, that’s definitely what it was! And although the age gap was big enough to worry some other people back then, by now it’s become insignificant….at least after six years of being together he finally left university, with his two degrees, although I’d gone back to uni during that time too!
I moved to Perth to be with Mike, and have been here now for most of the last nine years. I recently got my first Australian passport! During a trip back to the UK over the 2008 – 2009 Christmas and New Year holidays Mike proposed at the top of a mountain in the alps! We were on a skiing holiday with my extended family in La Plagne in France, and Mike took the rare opportunity of being with my Dad to do things properly and ask his permission to marry me. The next day Mike pretended to have an injured leg so we couldn’t ski with everyone else, and instead suggested we take the cable car up to the highest point in the resort for breakfast in the chalet restaurant up there. When I sat down at the table with our “chocolat chaud” and picked up my napkin, there was a sparkly something underneath it – an engagement ring! Apparently he’d wanted to hide it in a snowball, but was so nervous he couldn’t pack the snow together tightly enough!
Lots of my family and friends are traveling to Perth from the UK for the wedding, and we’re spending the week before the wedding down in the Margaret River Region with them all….
