Polka Dot Bride reader Maryanne sent in the photos she and her brother took at her recent engagement party in Casula New South Wales! Maryanne and Peter have known each other for 11 years and dated for five. They recently got engaged and celebrated together with a big party!
Peter proposed in November 20o8 and the couple are planning to marry in September next year!
There’s a sense of family, love and laughter in these photos which was evident through Maryanne’s words to me. So I wanted to share with you a lovely relaxed Saturday post!
Maryanne looked gorgeous in her frock from Alannah Hill with a fascinator and gloves from Etsy.
Maryanne and Peter have their rings blessed in a traditional Orthodox religious ceremony
Maryanne and Peter don’t have many family members so invited a lot of their friends – ranging from university friends, work colleagues and even school friends!
Half of the food was catered while Maryanne’s mother, friends and Peter’s mother made the rest. The biggest hit was the punch, christened Changia- a champagne version of Sangria.
Maryanne, her friends and her future sister in law stayed up late the night before the party making cupcakes. The cake the couple cut was made by Celebration Cakes.
There was plenty of dancing to end the night! So much fun! Thank you for sharing Maryanne! We wish you and Peter a peaceful lead up to your wedding!
How did you celebrate your engagement?
Great shots…but wondering if you did a typo and it should be Casula? 🙂
Our engagement was a really low key dinner with a few friends – would love to do it again but a bit bigger, but in the UK, we didn’t make as big a deal as in Australia (where I’ve been introduced to the wonder of the kitchen tea – great!)
We had a fantastic engagement party at the German Club in Brisbane, paying tribute to the fact that Nick’s family is German and we’d recently returned from a visit there. We served German finger food, and the bar tab featured German beers and wines. We hired an accordion player for the first couple of hours, who played an impromptu, ‘happy engagement to you’ (to the tune of happy birthday) before we cut the cake and had our DJs play. Such a fantastic night! A picture here: http://jonaspeterson.com/wedding/lets-say-it-was-different/
(Jonas mentioned you’re interested in featuring our wedding? How very exciting!)
Julie Brewer – LOVE this session. Her skin is fllawess. Gorgeous light on the first few and I love the one of them against the metal wall with the flowers all around!
for our engagement part, we had a 1920s themed night with lots of finger food and jazz music. lots of people dressed up in theme for the occasion. such a great night.
