Creative Colour – Aqua Blue

The colour of clear tropical waters, the flash of blues in opals, the softness of the sky at dawn.

Combine with

–    All the blues and sea greens of the ocean and white

–    With sand, ivory and white

–    With orange, navy and silver

–    With fresh spring green, darker aqua and ivory

–    With orange, yellow and hot pink, touches of lime green

–    With deep pink red and pearl grey

–    With deeper grey blue, charcoal and cream

–    With lilacs and deeper mauves, touches of spring green or emerald green

–    With eau de nil and ivory

–    peacock feathers

–    burnished gold, silver, glass, stainless steel, pewter, zinc

–    moonstone, aquamarines, pearls, crystals, opals

–    Moroccan ware – beaten silver or brightly patterned bowls, lanterns with coloured glass. Brightly coloured silks and embroidered fabrics

–    White, dull silver or dark furniture

–    White cloths with over cloths or runners in floral, check, stripes or toile in aqua on a white background. Aqua crockery and aqua napkins

–    Silver rimmed glassware, silver cutlery, silver containers holding white blooms silver candelabra holding aqua and white candles

–    Turquoise jewellery, or aquamarine and crystal hair pieces, clusters of jewels to catch a fold of fabric, or to embellish the ribbon on your bouquet

–    Strings of pearls or pearlised shell pieces to wrap around chandeliers, candelabra, vases, to hang from branches, pergolas, mirrors, or in windows

–    Laser cut mirror shapes to hang from the ceiling in varying lengths to add sparkle – snowflakes, hearts, birds

–    Use faux fur capes, or beaded silk organza wraps if cool

–    Use mirrors placed flat on the tables to reflect candle light, flowers, your desserts or the tiny ‘fairy’ lights strung around the room

–    Gerberas, armfuls of any white flower, bulbs, nerines, orchids, hot pink parrot tulips, navy privet berries, sweet peas, lavender roses and grey leaves, poppies

–     A marine theme with coral, starfish, shells in garlands, edging tablecloths, over an arch, around a doorway, piled into large glass cylinders, views to the bobbing boats in the harbour

–    A nautical theme with bunting, glass fishing floats, shells using one of the above colour schemes, for a change from navy and white

–    A white lolly bar with touches of aqua in beautiful containers, ribbon embellishments, tags and the odd aqua iced cupcake and jelly beans
