– 1920’s flapper fashion – straight dresses with lace overlays, dropped waists, cloche hats, beaded headbands, fabulous shoes embellished with crystals, feathers – in fans, long ostrich feathers
– Arrive at the wedding in a carriage, or beautiful old cars like Bentleys, Mercedes
– Small silver photo frames at each place setting with the guests’ name can double as favours, glass votives with lilac candles
– For a winter wedding, large containers of bare white branches, festooned with your flower of choice, strings of crystals, up lit with hidden lights or with candles and rose petals surrounding the container. Use these in doorways, entrances, create a walkway, on either side of a fire place, on tables
– For a summer wedding outside, create a secret garden look with vines and branches over and around a pergola, garlands and pots of flowers – hydrangeas, sweet peas and ferns are particularly pretty with this theme. Make the most of existing features such as stone walls, fountains, ponds
– A cake decorated simply with silver balls (cachous), tiny sugar flowers randomly set all over, or a croquembouche with spun toffee and dotted with sugared violets. A cake covered with sugared flowers such as violets, hydrangeas (flowers picked individually off the flower heads), or sweet peas
– Lilac lining in the mens’ suit jackets
– Silver edged glassware or crockery, silver cutlery, silver chairs, mirrors on the tables and on the wall to reflect sparkle, the palest of lilac in table linen, enhanced with the other colours of your chosen palette in flowers, napkins, cake, garlands
