Seeing as tomorrow is the big day, I thought it time for one last Christmas inspiration entry!
A Christmas time wedding in Australia brings to mind cocktails and lazy days on the beach, but seeing as we still hang snowflakes on our trees there’s still a touch of winter magic!
Christmas can be a lovely time to have a wedding especially is you are prepared for lots of family to stay over and have the celebrations stretch out over a few days. If family are going to travel long distances why not plan for Christmas Eve or Boxing Day to be your wedding day and encourage your guests to join in the joyousness of a Christmas celebration.
The reception could incorporate stars, Christmas trees, pine garlands, pine cones, lots of sparkles and big ribbon bows. You could use any accent colour you like and the Christmas theme could be added with silver, gold or white touches. Alternatively, your reception theme could be pure white with touches of green in pine branches and garlands. Think white candlesticks massed on the tables, white painted wooden stars, white wooden bird cutouts, baubles hung from branches or the ceiling or piled in enormous glass vessels, fairy lights.
Food could include fruit punch, seafood, traditional foods such as hams, turkeys and Christmas puddings served with brandy custard or a lighter ice cream bombe incorporating fresh berries and toffee. A ‘cookie’ table could include a gingerbread house, sugar cookies in snowman, reindeer and star shapes, iced gingerbread shapes, ice creams and sorbets, shortbread and White Christmas. Use candy canes as swizzle sticks for a fun touch.
Wedding favours could be a small personalized gift for each guest in lieu of a Christmas gift, with a special message attached to each. A beautiful Christmas decoration for each guest, or individual Christmas cakes decorated with a holly sprig or an Australian native blossom with a hand written wish for the coming New Year would also be a appropriate for the festive season.
