Stunning Ms Polka!
Favorite design – the willow. So pretty!
How I’m making my life more eco-friendly… I carpool to and from work, take the bus as much as possible for errands, buy fruits and vegetables from organic and/or salmon-friendly farms, recycle, buy thrift-store and eco-friendly clothing, I’m addicted to eco-friendly cleaning supplies…
Oh yes, and my new job? Wetland habitat restoration. I spent all day today removing invasive blackberry bushes and planting native shrubs. It’s so much fun!
I am a letterpress junkie and a fan of Snow & Graham. It is great that there are beautiful eco friendly alternatives. My favorite is the nouveau card, simple and beautiful. I’m making my life more eco friendly by purchasing local organic food, bringing my own bags when (and if) I walk to the store. Recycling is a given where I live and I’m doing my best to have an eco-conscious wedding buy using local goods, food, and green services for my event.
Love that little butterfly!!!
Oh they are so gorgeous!
I have two favourites- the giraffe and blossom!!! The remind me of negajou- a Japanese new year card! Lovely!
I am making my life more eco-friendly by using sustainable modes of transport as often as I can including walking & public transport….
Not to mention we are growing our own vegies, cutting down on our use of plastic bottles & printing double sided, 2 to 1 page paper at work (as is my whole team- FINALLY!)
I love smock! I already have some of their stuff! its all so lovely 🙂
I love the Reindeer cards – how great it would be to send some beautiful, quality Christmas cards for once! As for making life more eco-friendly I do all the basics (recycle, combine errands when going out, reusable shopping bags, etc) but the biggest thing I’m doing is teaching my fiancee some things he never thought of. He’s started re using his bath towel (yep, he used to use it once and then toss it in the hamper) and we use cloth napkins instead of paper towels and we just started carpooling to work one day a week.
The Reindeer cards in the “Merry” section are my absolute favorite. I would love to be able to send these adorable cards out this holiday season!
I think it is great that Smock is so eco-friendly! I love the fact that “employees are subsidized with 20-week Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) memberships with a local organic farm.” What a great benefit! May I come work for you?? 🙂
I try to be very environmentally conscious in my daily life and teach my children to be the same. We recycle and reuse everything that we can. We have switched to CFL bulbs. We unplug small appliances and turn off lights when not in use. We wash almost everything in cold water. We bring reusable bags to the grocery store. We use the water from our dehumidifier to water our plants. We set our thermostat at 63-64 during the day in the winter. Any little step that we can take we try to do 🙂
Thank you so much for the wonderful giveaway! The cards are beautiful!
I love the delft pattern.
I have three kids and we pack lunches each day. This used to mean lots of baggies and prepackaged foods. This year I am packing bento box style lunches. One reusable “rubbermaid” type box with silicone baking cups used as dividers. When they come home the whole lot gets put in the sink to be washed and reused. No more baggies or small boxes of raisins.
We are also making our Christmas gifts this year. Mainly of materials recycled from thrift shops or already in our home. We do not need anything and can show our appreciation for each other by putting some serious thought into a special gift.
I love “Bloom”. So pretty. Well, they all are, it was hard to choose just one.
We do a lot to be eco friendly… we use only reuseable (and recyclable, at the end of their life span) glass containers, no plastic; we take our shopping bags when we go shopping and refuse plastic containers and bags whenever possible. We drive a low-emissions car. We have planted two trees on our property (and I’m guerrilla gardening the empty lot across from us with native plants). Instead of throwing things away, we pass them on to someone else who can use them whenever possible, re-purpose, or recycle. We have feeders out for birds and have planted lots of shrubs for them to hide and nest in. We shop at the local farmers’ stands and avoid produce shipped from thousands of miles away.
I love the celebrate party invites. http://smockpaper.com/social/#/party/664W I am using reusable shopping bags in an effort to go green. I also reuse a lot of plastic containers and glass jars and recycle everything else.
I like the butterfly notes – would love to get these for my FMIL for Christmas.
FI and I use tap water instead of buying bottled. I air dry as much stuff as possible. We have CFL bulbs in every light that can have one. We are lucky to work near each other and commute together. I’m also trying to be as green as possible with our wedding plans, we’re in the early stages of planning but so far I’m going with all recycled paper, ceremony/reception in one place, herbs as centerpieces/favors and no extra transportation such as limos.
So cute! I like the “ellie” notecards. 🙂
Definitely trying to conserve more (water, electricity, food), recycle, drive less, just general buy fewer things.
oooh loving me some butterfly blank cards or butterfly social note…. I’m just starting out to be more eco-loving. We’re starting out small with reusuable shopping bags, just bought a new hybrid car, my fiance try to carpool as much as possible to work and educating my family!
The beatrix thank you notes are great. They’re classy, yet fun!
We try to be as eco friendly as possible by composting food scraps, bringing our own bags to the store, and shopping at local farmer’s markets. Whenever tolerable we also like to sleep with the windows open to stay cool when it’s warm or pile blankets on the bed to stay warm when it’s cold instead of cranking up the air conditioning or heat. Every little bit counts!
i love joy_&_peace and derby!
i’m trying to be more eco-friendly in a lot of ways but most recently i’ve been looking for handmade holiday gifts from local sources – ensuring that my gifts haven’t flown around the world!
They are all lovely but if I must choose a favourite… it would have to be the Giraffe petite social note (as i love anything with giraffe’s!)
To be as eco-friendly as we can we reuse & recycle as much as possible. We have home-grown fruit & veges & any food scraps are fed to our ducks & birds or put in the compost. We try to save water as much as we can & reuse bucketed shower water to put on the garden.
We only use Nutrimetics cleaning products as they are biodegradable & their laundry liquid is also phosphate free!
We also walk & carpool whenever possible. Use energy efficient light globes throughout the house & use candles some nights to save power. Once a week we try to limit the electricity use & play games by candle light after a simple dinner.
We are hoping to convince the inlaws to go to solar power soon.
Thanks
I love the Willow range, so beautiful and versatile, and it would be a lovely way to keep in touch with all my friends back home.
As an apartment dweller, being eco-friendly can be a little tricky, but my parents have taught me good habits. I live 3kms from my work so I don’t own a car – I either walk, cycle or catch public transport to work. I shop in my local area, I buy organic and local whenever possible, I recycle all that I possibly can, I only use natural cleaning products, I reclaim and restore vintage furniture, and I’m a chronic light-switcher-offer.
My proudest eco-effort so far is growing my own fruit and vegetables in my tiny little courtyard. So far I have a lemon tree, orange tree, lime tree and an olive tree, two half wine barrels full of giant spinach, sugar snap peas, snow peas, borage, cos lettuce and sunflowers, and pots hanging everywhere, two with cherry tomatos and the rest with various herbs. I was never much of a gardener or a cook for that matter, but now I find nothing more satisfying than being able to prepare a meal from my own back yard.
I love the Hampton thank you card. I would use them to write personal notes to my bridesmaids on my wedding day.
Living in a townhome sometimes makes it hard to be as green as I’d like. There isn’t much room for a garden or extra storage, as we don’t have a garage. But, we contacted our home owner’s association about putting in a recycling bin in the garbage area, so we can now separate out the recyclable items. Also, at work, we have created a Sustainability Team, which is in charge of coming up with ways to lower our carbon footprint. We went from about 30 bags of trash a week to only about 12-15! We also do group volunteering for cleaning up garbage around the biking trails in town.
I loved the butterfly blank fold! The willow is also beautiful!
In oder to be more eco-friendly, I don’t drive at all (I either carpool, take public transportation or walk). We also recycle everything and have lots of plants, mostly fruit trees (we even planted one on the sidewalk in front of our house!) and herbs. We are studying the best way to compost with a small garden and with a home-made composter. Most importantly, I teach my students to take care of their world, which I think is the best way to care for the future.
Ah! I love smock–they’re so amazing! I love the butterfly cards! They are beyond adorable!!! To make my life more green, I walk everyone (don’t even own a car anymore) and use Zipcar when I need to go somewhere far. Other than that, I use green cleaning environments and just moved in to a green apartment building that used all sustainable resources to build the place. It was a little bit more expensive, but absolutely worth it!!!
I mean products not environments…oops….
I’m digging the Willow and Liony designs, but my favorite is the April shower notes! Very different, and I love the subtle colors.
As for going green (aside from our recycling) my fiance and I have just recently renovated our house and made lots of eco-friendly changes. We now have CF light bulbs, low-flow shower heads, 1.5 gallon toilet tanks, and a tankless water heater. We’ve also put in a water filter system to forego having to constantly buy plastic water bottles. And (my favorite new addition), our very own herb and veggie garden! This garden grows with homemade compost from our kitchen scraps.
I love them all! But my favourite is the Derby (fold).
I’m vegan, and try to make life more eco-friendly by encouraging others to do the same. Of course, it’s not easy (or very often succesful!) so I try to live life demonstrating how easy it is to be kind to animals and kind to the planet!
The ‘Poppy’ thank-you notes are my favorite, as are all things Poppy~sort of an homage to our wonderful dog named ‘Poppy’. We recycle weeekly and take bigger items to the recycle depot, turn the thermostat off at night, left-overs become next day lunches in re-usable containers, turn lights off when leaving the room, greening as much as possible with renos and appliances and recycle clothing….
I would use the butterfly card as my thank-you cards for my wedding. The colors match the pallette we’re using and the concept of a butterfly moving into a new life would be a perfect representation of our marriage. I have been implementing an eco-friendly lifestyle for quite some time now through recycling and my diet… recently I’ve been educating college students and other friends on how to recycle electronics properly— tons upon tons of computers, cell phones, etc are improperly handled and cause great damage to our environment. All it takes is a little educating and some local resources to encourage change within our communities… and the difference can be huge!
My favorite is Bloom! The colors are fabulous and remind of me of a wonderful picnic wedding.
To be more eco friendly, I started a recycling bucket at work and convinced HR to start buying recycled paper for the copy machines. I have also started eating only locally grown and in season produce….everything tastes so much better when it’s super fresh!
I really like the ellie folded cards, and the Julep double-sided gift wrap. So great!!!
Being eco-friendly is my mission. I try get people to stop smoking by saying that they harm the air that I breathe and my children will be disabled by polluted air in the future. I love when my recycling bin is filled up and I reuse everything, straws to paper till slips(I keep them to write grocery lists on as the ink fades if left in the sun). We always use both sides of paper when printing(I’m trying to convert my partner) and we have a massive vege patch which gives us corn, tomatoes, green beans, broccoli, Cauliflower, beetroot, carrots, brussel sprouts and we also have strawberries, mulberries, oranges, bananas, paw-paws and custard apples
How beautiful! I love the calligraphy. So gorgeous!
I love the willow design – it is so beautiful! I love these cards! They are so unique and delicate, which I love! And the fact that they’re eco-friendly just adds that much more to their appeal 🙂 Thanks for posting this!
I am in love with Ellie and the Giraffe. Something about their sweet little faces make me want to write a love letter on them!
In the area of living eco-friendly…I help to manage people’s investment portfolios by using socially and environmentally responsible stock and mutual funds. People can being to put their MONEY WHERE THEIR HEART IS! It is truly an interesting time for our fragile world and we need to be calling the companies and corporations to a higher standard for us all. Also drive an eco- car, recycle, all that jazz! 🙂
The paxi card are divine!
I’m trying to be eco-friendly be reclaiming leather and using it for other things…I’m making purses, business card holders, and book covers out of the re-purposed leather for Christmas gifts!
My favorite is definitely the Blossom social notes! So clean and perfect.
My latest attempt at being green? For Christmas, I’m baking everyones’ gifts (so nothing for them to throw away), and wrapping them with all the rejection letters (I seriously have hundreds) from applying for jobs while I was in law school. Now my family, too, can know that their credentials are impressive (and that no extra trees were killed to wrap their gifts). 😉
The willow cards literally took my breath away, with bloom and pagoda being close seconds.
My honey and I have done several things to be more eco-conscious recently. First we both commute by mass transit. I have to admit that this was hard for me, as my commute is on a crowded noisy bus and takes me twice as long. But I’ve also had many great conversations on the bus and time to read, so that’s been good.
Secondly, we’ve cut down on the meat products we use in our lives. My fiance and I were both raised in households where we farmed our own meat, so we never really felt bad about it. But now we realized that by continuing to have store bought meat in our diets, we were significantly increasing our carbon footprint… So we eat meat only a couple of days a week now, and try to make sure that it is from a local organic source.
Finally, we are working hard to decrease the carbon footprint for our wedding. We picked a location that would minimize travel. We made it a weekend wedding so that there would be no travel to and from reception and ceremony sites. We won’t have to leave the property all weekend.
I know these are only small things, but if everyone did them, we’d change the world!
I don’t know if I can type everything we are doing to be more eco friendly, cuz I’ll be here all day, but I will if I’ll win 😉
We are carpooling, planting a tree for every new client that hires us, turning our air up, turning the heat down, recycling, reusing, using less, buying recycled items lile bamboo rugs, and bamboo plates, carpet, floors, our sheets are even bamboo! There is SO much more!!!
I love this stuff, it’s so pretty!!! The giraffe is my favorite, too cute!
Appreciating nature and caring for my surroundings has always been a part of my life. As a middle school teacher, I’m doing my best to encourage my students to take action, as well. My school has taken phenomenal steps to begin an organic recycling program; cutting our waste by 2/3! If I can inspire children to value and care for our planet, my own impact is exponential.
(The “butterfly” and “willow” lines are gorgeous! Thanks for pointing us in the direction of such a great, sustainable company.)
I love, love, love the ‘blossom’ social note. My fiance and I have gradually incorporated sustainability into our lives so that it now does not feel like ‘effort’ or ‘sacrifice’. We began with a herb garden, which grew into a vegetable garden and we are now vegetarian. Neither of us drive, we are lucky to live centrally, so 90% of our travel can be done by bike, otherwise we use public transport.
My favorite is the Derby notecard. I love the blue and gold color combo.
We’ve been doing a number of things to become more ecofriendly. We only buy the fluorescent light bulbs. We use reusable bags when we go grocery shopping. Everything that can be recycled goes in the correct bin. We set the thermostat to a timer so we don’t waste energy heating or cooling the house when we’re not around or awake. We buy recycled toilet paper, and our cat even uses biodegradable litter! 🙂
This stationery is beautiful. It goes to show that things can be eco-conscious and still stylish – so often the luxe gets sacrificed with enviro-kind products but it doesn’t have to, as Smock shows so eloquently. Hard to choose but Butterfly is especially sweet to me.
We are reducing our plastic consumption by refusing grocery bags and avoiding plastic wherever we can – once plastic is created, it’s here forever and I want as little of it as possible on my conscience! We have no air-conditioning at home and rely on breezes (live in the sub-tropics here in Australia but I’m proud to be drenched for the cause). We think long and hard before buying anything and try for pre-loved first. When we say Bye to something, we give it to the local RSPCA (charity) to hopefully prolong its life and generate funds for a fabulous cause.
