It’s the week of the royal wedding, and as lovers of all things wedding, there is something a little magical when the world starts to chitter chatter about a wedding that is to be as public as this one. We’re helping you get in the spirit with a fun roundup of five ways to add British wedding style to your own wedding day. Love all things British? Perhaps you’re a bit of a Princess dreamer? Or perhaps you have British heritage you’d love to honour? We have you covered!

Choose A Grand Ceremony Space

Outdoor weddings in Britain are somewhat tricky. Legalities mean only licensed venues (and only recently!) are allowed for outdoor wedding ceremonies. So a beautiful indoor venue is the first on our list of British wedding touches. While of course, a beautiful church (or cathedral if you’re taking royal inspiration!) is a traditional choice, there are magic buildings that don’t hold the religious connotations everywhere you look. Think beautiful libraries, town halls – even office building foyers!

Add a Hat To Your Dress Code

It’s traditional at weddings in the United Kingdom to don a hat for a wedding, and I must say, it does add a rather festive touch! Particularly appropriate at garden party weddings, a hat is such a nod to the fun tradition of dressing up.

Ride In A Horse & Carriage

One of those fairytale moments is the horse and carriage transport for the royal to be and the parade of newlyweds, So if you’re looking for British wedding style, or rather, fairytale wedding style, a horse and carriage have to be top of your list!

Wear A Crown

Of course, crowns are so quintessentially royal. Crowns these days are so different from crowns of yesteryear. Think bold, modern shapes and interesting materials.

Take A Spot Of Tea

What could be more British than serving up tea at your wedding? Particularly wonderful if you go all out for an afternoon wedding (think scones with jam and cream, strawberries and cream, and fruit tarts too!) but serving up beautiful tea with beautiful crockery? Perfection!
