With a background in TV journalism, Stephen of Stephen Lee Celebrancy brings to your wedding ceremony professionalism and skill, but also warmth and a great sense of humour! Getting to know you is a huge part of the job for Stephen, and from your conversation he can begin to see how to craft your ceremony to reflect who you are as individuals and as a couple. Never one for a cookie-cutter ceremony, Stephen takes personal responsibility for everything ceremony related to ensure it runs smoothly – after all you only get one chance at it!

We asked Stephen of Stephen Lee Celebrancy  five questions in five minutes:

Your favourite weekend getaway?

What’s a weekend getaway?! Ha ha! I can’t remember my last completely free weekend without a wedding – but I love running away from the city for a weekend of great wine and delicious food in the Hunter Valley – Tyrells is my favourite vineyard and we always stop by for a tasting. Or we have a favourite cottage we’ve dubbed “Granny’s House” at Blackheath with a roaring open fire in winter to enjoy the fresh air and beauty of the Blue Mountains. And we love staying at a property in Kangaroo Valley called Wombat Lodge where the wildlife, views and tranquility are hard to beat!

What is your favourite after five drink?

I’m on a mission to find the perfect Espresso Martini. It’s tough job, but hey, someone has to do it. Just when I think I’ve drawn up my shortlist, something changes and I have to keep going!

Favourite restaurant?

I’m a huge foodie which is one of the big reasons I moved to Sydney. The food here is amazing and there’s always something new to discover. But the one place I always take visiting friends and family to is Ripples at Milsons Point. The food never disappoints, the service is always top notch and the views are unbeatable. And it’s really good value too.

What can we find you eating for breakfast on a Sunday morning?

With the Crows Nest main street just a short walk away, I am spoiled for choice for Sunday breakfast. I’ve really got into the whole brunch thing. On Sundays, in the words of Kim from Kath & Kim, “Nothing and no-one comes between me and my Yum Cha.”

Your favourite wedding story?

I’m totally sitting on the fence here because it’s impossible to pick just one wedding story as a favourite. So maybe I’d have to say my own wedding back in the UK – which I know is a total cop out – but it was the catalyst that started everything off and sent me on this amazing journey into a new career and a new country. We’re about to celebrate our 10th anniversary and if you’d told me then that my husband wasn’t the only person I’d be marrying (so to speak!) I’d never have believed you!
