Jacinta & Paul
Sparkling sunshine and beautiful landscapes set the scene for Jacinta and Paul’s glam South Australian winery wedding They worked with Evan Bailey Photography to capture their beautiful wedding day.
On how they met, Jacinta recalls, “Paul & I knew of each other through work, with friends trying to set us up. But it wasn’t until we properly met at a mutual friend & colleague’s funeral that we hit it off…. copious amounts of booze later with a few face slaps thrown in for good measure, and there was no going back!”
Jacinta chose an elegant gown from Luci Di Bella Bridal Couture , noting, “Finding a dress was a particularly arduous journey – I knew what I hated and knew what I loved (lace, beautiful fabrics, & something a little different). After searching Adelaide high & low, two Melbourne trips & a doubled dress budget later, I finally found myself smiling and relieved in Luci DiBella, Armadale VIC. Luci was amazing, & I was lucky enough to end up with a beautiful custom Art Deco gown.”
The couple chose Coriole Vineyards for their wedding, noting, “We wanted to simply have a big party with all of our friends & family, with an abundance of good wine, amazing food, and some solid dance floor action. Coriole was the perfect choice as it ticked all our boxes, offering the most beautiful vineyards for the ceremony backdrop, and gorgeous rustic buildings and amazing gardens for the ceremony. It was also a bit special to us as we had spent the day getting fat & merry at Coriole when Paul proposed to me.”
Jacinta walked down the aisle to “An acoustic version of David Gray, This Year’s Love, played live by The Happy Leonards.”
John Holmes officiated the ceremony, Jacinta remarking, “We were always leaning towards a short, sharp & shiny ceremony, straight to the point with a touch of tradition. There was no bridal party, just the 2 of us, with my niece Lily as our adorable (& rather non-compliant!) flower girl, and my sister Felicity shared a reading she chose (a funny poem). Our celebrant John Holmes was awesome – I had seen him conduct a friend’s ceremony many moons ago & immediately wanted him for my own (despite having no partner). He was the perfect combination of funny, entertaining, light-hearted yet appropriate.”
Of their photographer, Jacinta notes, “Evan Bailey was one of our favourite vendors, and a pretty random find as I just came across some of his work in an online blog and fell in love with his style – more photo-journalistic and really captured the special moments, with a certain understated creativity. The icing on the cake was that he’s such a top bloke and knew it was the right decision from our first meeting.”
The decor at the reception was simple, the bride telling, “Paul’s mum has passed away many moons ago so we put together a table in her memory, with her photo, a poem and a beautiful flower arrangement. Paul and I are not exactly dessert people, but we both love and adore cheese, so we had a four tiered cheese wheel “cake” that was later deconstructed onto cheese platters, which sat on our dessert table with my favourite Haighs chocolate truffles and mini cupcakes.”
“I was pretty keen to stay away from the crafty DIY vibe, and stick to clean finishes & simplicity, as it is not very representative of who we are, so just a few bits and bobs like sourcing props for the dessert table, collecting candles & vases, putting together & painting sign posts, and organising bathroom care packages.”
“We love the effort that all my closest friends went into to travel and make the weekend an amazing one, (it) was a particularly humbling experience. Paul & I stuck to what we both wanted and ended up with an amazing evening that reflected both of our styles, tastes and personalities perfectly.”
“I loved the moments Paul & I shared together when we popped off into the vineyards for our photos – we were like a pair of giggling excited school kids.”
Of their first dance, Jacinta explains, “It was Paul’s choice, and being a big softie he wanted Lifehouse “You and Me”. We booked ourselves in for a dance lesson so we could (be) slightly less uncoordinated and slightly more confident on the dance floor, and ended up with 15 lessons and an epic choreographed performance! It was so much fun and definitely a highlight, especially having “date night” every week in the crazy busy lead up period.”
