The thing about weddings these days is that there are so many different types and styles. Gone are the days where every day is a formal occasion held in a church. These days there are varying levels of formality and styles and dressing appropriately even for your own wedding style can be difficult. Here at Polka Dot Groom we have decided to cut down the stress by breaking down each wedding style for you.

We kick things off with a look at semi formal groom attire. The Semi Formal wedding is probably the most popular wedding style around. The attire for both the groom and groomsmen is your classic two piece suit. When choosing a two piece suit there are a couple things to look out.

Traditionally the best option is to go for a suit with two buttons. Suits with thinner lapels tend to be more modern while suits with wider lapels tend to be more old fashioned. The width of your lapel should be similar to the width of your tie.

For a more modern look go for a tapered pants. In terms of colour grey or black is more traditional but a blue suit can really create an impression. A brown leather shoe is a great choice to compliment either a grey or blue suit. It also makes the outfit more semi formal and style oriented than your traditional black shoe.
