I am absolutely in love with the items crafted by today’s guest – I just want them in every colour! Joining us is the lovely Pippa from Ouchflower, and her tassels really are an item that stands out as fresh and simple – but absolutely stunning. She makes these to order in Melbourne, with each tassel carefully bound and dip-dyed to order. The sky is your limit!
Today Pippa has shared her advice, where she finds inspiration and has given us a peek into her creative journey!
What was your path to crafting handmade items?
My path for creating handmade items began in school, when I was first introduced to clay in the ceramic classroom. This lead to studying Craft at University, majoring in clay.
Motherhood and the necessity to create around the demands of a baby, which lead me to macramé and tassels!
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration everywhere, blogs and instagram, family and friends and through the making process, one idea always feeds another!
What is the most common question you are asked by couples?
Most common question asked by couples when they hear my husbands accent is “Where did you meet”?
I tell them “In a school in the UK, I had experienced a dreadful lesson and was sitting in the staff room, shell shocked and he had just made a cup of coffee.
He looked at me and said ” you look like you need this more than me” handed the coffee over …. the rest is history!
What is your favourite colour palette?
My most favourite colour palette at the moment is indigo, peach and copper!
Do you have a favourite style of wedding (rustic, vintage, modern, classic etc)?
My wedding in 2006 was vintage inspired, I had a dress made from a vintage vogue pattern, I choose a green silk!
But really who doesn’t love a wedding, any kind!
They are all uniquely special and about the two people whom have decided to make a life together.

My top Etsy store pick would have to be the Tassel Garland, so far I have made many for a babies’ nursery in many colour combo’s but not for a wedding!
The good thing about the garland is that it can be hung after the wedding in your home as a permanent keepsake!
What is your DIY advice for couples?
My best DIY advice to couples is:
To continue to plan and make projects together after the wedding.
Nothing keeps the relationship happy than an activity together that is mutually beneficial!
Recently my Husband and I wanted to make a vertical garden on our garden wall.
We were looking for a cheap but stylish alternative to what we have seen about and settled on brightly coloured guttering to hold trailing succulents, very effective!
We found some old guttering in hard waste, drilled some drainage holes, bought some end caps to secure the soil, spray painted it bright colours and planted some succulent clippings from family and friends!
What is the one tool you can’t do without?
The one tool I could not do without, would be my iPad!
