Laura & Damian

Today’s wedding is so delightfully sweet. The groom’s mother made the bride’s dress. Guests sat on picnic blankets as they ate their meals and the ceremony was held on a rocky river bank. It’s just the thing to start off our day!

Laura tells their story. “We met at Thredbo in 2006. Laura wanted to meet some new people so took a packet of sparklers down to a little bar and gave Damian a sparkler.”

The wedding comes to us from Rosebud Photography who have captured the wedding with a whimsical sensitivity. So sweet, so beautiful and so much love!

Damian’s mother made Laura’s wedding gown.

Laura and Damian held their ceremony at The Promised Lands – Bellingen. Laura explains, “The ceremony was on the rocky river bank of Never Never creek in the Promised Lands, and the reception was just on the other side of the river, in a hall ran by local members of the community.”

Laura walked down the aisle to Sam Buckingham singing Angus and Julia Stone’s song ‘The Wedding Song’ . Sam also played at the reception.

Of their photographers, Laura says, “They were absolutely fantastic, fitted in so well, captured the day just how we hoped – to give us some really special pictures to always take us back to this magical day.”

Guests traveled across the river to Glennifer Hall, Glennifer for the reception.

Guests painted love hearts and hung them. Laura explains, ” We made basically everything, our clothes, all the decorations, table cloths, bunting flags, food, Damian built the chalk boards, he cut out 160 love hearts out of wood so we could have a ‘decorate your own love heart’ stand. I loved watching everyone getting involved with painting the love hearts, especially the children – they seemed to love it so much.”

For the style of the wedding, Laura says “It was a colourful picnic basically. Relaxed environment, the guests we either sat on picnic rugs or hay bails or seats, the whole thing was outdoors, the music was beautiful, the food was yummy, it was just a really love filled day. We couldn’t have done any of it without the effort and love and support of our beautiful friends and family, we had so many people helping us with everything!”

For their first dance, Laura says, “It was so much fun!! We did Salsa lessons all year last year so just improvised to a Seeker Lover Keeper’s song ‘Rely on me’.”

Congratulations Laura and Damian! Thank you for sharing your day with us! Thank you to Rosebud Photography for sharing today’s wedding with us!
