If the thought of a string quartet as your wedding entertainment puts you to sleep, but the idea of having fire breathing jugglers is a bit risque’, how about some unique wedding entertainment ideas to keep your guests from yawning. Weddings in the 21st century are no longer all about following tradition. With a plethora of unique wedding entertainment options available in the wedding industry today, there is absolutely no excuse for a boring wedding! Of course your budget will determine exactly how ‘unique’ your wedding entertainment will be, so I have endeavored to include a few different options no matter how extravagant an affair your wedding will be.

For The Budget Conscious

D.I.Y Photo Booth: What better way to capture the most candid guest photographs! D.I.Y Photo Booths are so ‘blog-chic’ at the moment. You could even go one step further by providing guests with an album to write messages in. Once the photos are printed, they can be included in the album next to your guests messages. If you decide to go with the D.I.Y photo booth, delegate it to a guest with a keen interest in photography.

DJ Karaoke: If you have decided that a DJ is a must for your ceremony and reception music, why not choose a DJ that can also host a complete karaoke show! Your guests can dance and sing the night away. You might also hear a few career-launching karaoke attempts! If you want to take it up a notch, your DJ might be able to play the original song film clips up on a projector screen so you can reminisce over those fantastic 80’s hairstyles!

For Those With A Little More To Spend

Comedian: Don’t want your wedding reception to be too serious? Why not have a stand up comedian – they will be sure to keep your guests laughing all night long and it is the perfect way to keep your guests relaxed. Preview your comedian before booking to ensure their type of comedy will appeal to all of your guests.

Magician: Magic is fast becoming a hit at weddings. There is an act for every taste. Choose from a stage comedy magician or an up close roving magician. To make it more personalised you can incorporate the Bride, Groom and guests into the performances. Take your guests back to their childhood.

Circus Acts: If you are after a  hint of mystery and thrill to keep your guests amused, why not consider circus acts, aerial performers, stilt walkers or roving entertainers. Actually, why not go all out with a circus themed wedding. Maybe leave the clowns for the children’s parties though! Be sure to check with your venue before arranging your desired cirque entertainment.

Fireworks: Want your wedding to go off with a bang? Fireworks are definitely for you then. Indoor, outdoor, intimate or large, it doesn’t really matter. Surprise and delight your guests with the flair of fireworks. Fireworks packages can include pyrotechnics for the Bride and Groom arrival and departure, cutting of the cake, bridal waltz, or even a full blown outdoor display – perfect for the kids!

For Entertaining The Kids

Dedicated Children’s Entertainer: Taking care of your smallest guests can be easy if you hire a dedicated children’s entertainer. Clowns, face painting, balloon twisting, colouring in, karaoke or puppet shows – the options are endless. Try to have the performer set up in a different room to the reception. This will allow parents to regularly check up on the kids, as well as being able to enjoy the wedding.

Needless to say, these are merely just a few options to choose from, and I know they won’t suit everyone’s taste. There are plenty more unique options I haven’t mentioned. Keep an open mind, and you will create an unforgettable event your guests will be talking about for years to come!

Ms Gingham says: I love those Bananas In Pyjamas. They’re so cute … or maybe I’ve been watching too much ABC for kids. 😀

Sarah says: “Newly Wed who loves to blog about weddings and food! Loved everything about planning my wedding and honeymoon, and absolutely devastated that it is all over now 🙁 Have the most amazing husband who I love with all my heart, and am so looking forward to the journey life will take us on together now that we are married!”
